Center of the Nation Monument

On August 21, 2007, the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce and the Center of the Nation Planning Committee
  unveiled a new monument to designate and celebrate 

Belle Fourche, South Dakota
as the 
Geographic Center of the United States. 

   The 21-foot diameter structure is made of etched South Dakota granite with a 12-inch bronze marker from the National Geodetic Survey. The Monument is located at the Belle Fourche Chamber and Visitor Information Center/Tri-State Museum buliding. Additional phases to the project will occur in the near future. Plans include an avenue of flags, picnic area, educational kiosks and more.

Engraved Bricks

 

Bricks are 4 by 8 inches and can contain up to three lines of engraving with 20 characters per line. Spaces and punctuation each count as a character. Cost of each engraved brick is $45 and is tax deductible. All funds generated from this program will be used in support of the Geographic “Center of the Nation” monument. The Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce invites you to become a part of history by purchasing an engraved brick that will be installed near the new Geographic “Center of the Nation” monument, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.  It will be placed at the “Center of the Nation” Visitor Information Center and Tri-State Museum in Belle Fourche for all to enjoy
